  10. BMW officially unveiled the Vision Future Luxury Concept at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show, giving the world's media an in-the-flesh look at not only a future design theme for the brand, but a rumored flagship model. This is a looker in person, thanks to its Pininfarina Gran Lusso Coupe-inspired design, and it's not too difficult to imagine it in production car form, with smaller wheels, larger mirrors and the other minor transformations that take place from drawing board, to auto show and, finally, to assembly line. In general, it seems like there are more than a few parts of this vehicle that are ready for production. This particular concept is wearing an eDrive badge on its backside, indicating that under the Vision Future Luxury's long hood is some form of plug-in-hybrid propulsion. It's anyone's guess as to what engine, battery and motor combinations BMW is playing with, although it does seem questionable whether BMW would launch a PHEV flagship to do battle with a top-rung variant of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (which will likely use V12 power). The BMW Vision Future Luxury furnishes a long-term outlook on the perception of modern luxury for the BMW brand. It stands for a forward-looking fusion of exclusivity and innovation, for a driving experience that is at once emotional and exclusive. All this is conveyed through the outstanding exterior and interior design of the BMW Vision Future Luxury along with its innovative technology, a pioneering lightweight engineering concept and a seamlessly integrated user interface and driving experience that caters optimally to the needs of all occupants. The BMW Vision Future Luxury makes its world debut at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show. "Innovative technology and modern luxury have always been an important part of BMW's brand DNA," says Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design. "We use visionary concept vehicles like the BMW Vision Future Luxury to show where we may be going with these themes in the future, and to give us new inspiration and motivation. The BMW Vision Future Luxury – with its innovative technologies and with meticulous precision and quality in every detail – takes our thinking on modern luxury a logical stage further."
  11. Bentley is envisioning a powerful and even more efficient future with the Bentley Hybrid Concept – a technology showcase that previews Bentley’s first plug-in hybrid model, set to be a dedicated version of the all-new SUV available in 2017. The Bentley Hybrid Concept will be on display at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition on Sunday 20th April. As the first luxury brand to present a plug-in hybrid, Bentley leads the way in bringing new powertrain choice to the luxury automotive sector. Dr Wolfgang Schreiber, Chairman and Chief Executive of Bentley Motors, comments: “There is no doubt that plug-in hybrid technology is true to Bentley’s values of outstanding luxury and effortless performance. Combining our renowned engines with electric power reinforces and enhances both principles, and so we will gradually introduce this powertrain across our model range. By the end of the decade, at least 90% of our production will be available as a plug-in hybrid. We are proud to be pioneering these developments in the luxury sector.” The Bentley Plug-in Hybrid System Through Bentley’s hybrid system, customers will have a wider choice of modern, powerful and efficient powertrains. The plug-in hybrid system will offer a power increase of up to 25% together with a 70% reduction in CO2 emissions, both without any compromise to the exquisite luxury, timeless design and industry-leading refinement for which Bentley has become renowned. Bentley hybrids will also be capable of driving at least 50 km on electric power alone, allowing for emissions-free city driving with the option of enhanced performance on the open road. The Bentley Hybrid Concept The Bentley Hybrid Concept is based on the flagship model in the Bentley family, the Mulsanne, to show that hybrid technology enhances even the pinnacle of luxury and performance. Copper is used as an exterior and interior styling element to highlight the car’s electrical veins, including copper details to the headlamps, radiator shell bezel, brake calipers, feature line details and badges. Copper accents continue in the cabin, with inserts to the hand-crafted veneers fascias, switch bezels and instruments. Copper cross‑stitching to the Mulliner Driving Specification diamond-quilted interior provides the finishing flourish.

  13. "Talent" is considered second rate in her own country, so she plays for an adopted country and now returns to her true home with medals and money. Whole charade is like a commercial transaction except that in commercial transactions, both parties are supposed to gain some benefit. What tangible benefit did the adopted country gain? Link
  14. According to the South China Morning Post, the Chinese authorities have suspended production of many factories and chemical plants in Beijing to curb the air pollution in the city, which has reached harmful level. Unfortunately for Hyundai, Hyundai Motor Beijing is one of those 41 factories that are forced to cut back on production. China's capital is enduring its worst air pollution in recent memory, illustrating the persistent challenge the nation's new leaders face in addressing environmental woes. The harmful PM2.5 particle rate is hovering between 200 and 400 micrograms per cubic meter. According to the US Environmental Protection Agency regulations, PM2.5 concentration at any location should not be higher than 65 micrograms per cubic meter. Children hospitals in Beijing are receiving up to 10,000 patients per day with respiratory problem. Established in 2002 and based in Shunyi District, a satellite city of Beijing, Hyundai Motor Beijing is a 50:50 joint-venture between Beijing Automotive Group and Hyundai Motor Company.

  17. BMW premiered its concept i8 spyder in Beijing recently. The electric spyder does not differ much from its coupe sibling besides riding on a shorter height and wheelbase. The rear-end of the car was clearly seen with an eDrive as a mark for the new electric technology. In can be certain that in the future, the eDrive badging will identify all electric and plug-in hybrid cars of BMW's i sub brand. eDrive comprises the electric motor developed by BMW, the lithium-ion battery, and the intelligent motor management system. Full torque of the electric motor is available from the start and the acceleration unfolds until hitting the top speed.

  19. The first time we saw the Hawtai B35 SUV was two years ago which looked like a nip/tuck job between Bentley and Porsche. Now the SUV is back at the upcoming Auto China Show in Beijing later this month. The facelift brings about some cosmetic changes, where the Bentley-inspired front grille replaced with a grille similar to the latest Jaguar XJ saloon. So it is still a nip/tuck job, just a different face this time. The Porsche knockoff is offered in China with a choice of two powerplants, a 1.8-litre turbocharged with a 164hp output and a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre with 150hp. Both engines have either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic for transmission and an optional four-wheel drive system. The interior looks decent though nothing new. You find bland leather with imitation wood, six airbags, navigation, parking sensors, heated seats, and an electric sunroof. Some questions about the car though. If the SUV is made in China for the China market, and in promotional shots you see the car's name written in Chinese at the number plate area, yet inside in the cabin everything is written in English. Also there is a random button with the word
  20. Beijing real estate prices drop as year ends hqsb posted on November 24, 2011 01:08 http://www.globaltimes.cn/DesktopModules/D...&PortalID=0 Homes in Beijing have seen a dramatic price drop as the year comes to a close. Insiders say the reduction comes as developers need cash returns that are not coming fast enough. A local property company has been promoting its houses in Beijingxiangsu community, located near the East Fifth Ring Road, for 11,600 yuan ($1,825) per square meter and some units are selling for as low as 480,000 yuan, according to the Beijing Morning Post. Figures from the Beijing Real Estate Trade and Management website show the average price of an apartment in this community has dropped from 22,500 yuan per square meter to 11,600 yuan, said the report. The company started pre-sales in June, but none of its apartment projects have sold out, a sharp contrast compared to last year's busy real estate market. Another builder, Vanke, has also reduced the price of several projects by 10 to 20 percent, indicating the housing market in Beijing is in a rapid decline, according to the report. Zhang Yue, a senior analyst at Beijing Homelink Real Estate, said many real estate companies followed Vanke's lead and reduced their price by between 10 and 20 percent. "It is unusual to see a 50 percent reduction," said Zhang. An anonymous staff member at a local property company told the paper a half-price home comes close to the original cost of the property, adding possible reasons for the huge discount. "At the end of the year, many real estate developers have to repay loans to the bank and pay the construction workers," he said. Yu Liang, the president of Vanke, recently told the press his company has "gone into hibernation." "Cash on hand is more important than profits now," he said. Zhang Dawei, marketing director of Centaline Real Estate Beijing, told the Global Times the decrease in home prices shows the government's policy on the housing market, such as purchase restrictions and loan regulations, has had an effect. "If the government doesn't loosen the policy, I think the prices might keep dropping lower," he said.

  25. Hyundai has unveiled the 2011 Verna (aka Accent) at the Beijing Motor Show. Looking like a miniature Sonata, the Verna features sweptback headlights, a bold grille, and rearview mirrors with integrated LED turn signals. Inside, the cabin boasts higher quality materials and an improved design. Power comes from two new Gamma petrol engines with multiport fuel injection. The base 1.4-liter produces 79 kW (106 hp / 107 PS) and 135 Nm (100 lb-ft) of torque. When equipped with a five-speed manual, the Verna consumes 5.7 liters/100km (41.2 mpg US). If you choose the four-speed automatic and the Fuel Economy Package, the Verna consumes 6.2 liters/100km (37.9 mpg US). If that doesn't float your boat, Hyundai also offers a 1.6-liter with 90 kW (121 hp / 122 PS) and 155 Nm (114 lb-ft) of torque. It will be available exclusively with a four-speed automatic. The car rides on an all-new platform with a 2570mm wheelbase - the biggest in its class. It uses an increased amount of ultra-high tensile strength steel, so we can expect improved handling and better NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) levels. According to Euisun Chung, Vice Chairman of Hyundai Motor, "Today is a really special day for us, not only because we're launching a new car, but because it's one of the very few times we've done a world-premiere outside of Korea: And we chose to do it right here in China because it's our way of recognizing how important our Chinese customers are to us." Chinese production kicks off in July, while global production occurs shortly thereafter.
