Although there were 'casualties' in this incident, the man did end up stopping the bike. A confusing video showing a man kicking the bicycle of a young child as he free-wheels down a slope is currently going viral. In the video, the child, who is not wearing a helmet or any safety gear, attempts to free-wheel down a slope. While the slope does not look that steep, it is dangerous for any child (and adult) to ride a bicycle in public without some sort of protection. The child could be heard screaming (out of fear or joy?) as he goes down the slope. An unidentified man notices the little boy struggling to control his 'vehicle' and runs up to the speeding bicycle. He immediately kicks the bicycle to stop the child in his tracks. This works a little too well as the child flies off his seat and lands face-first on the pavement. Although the child did sustain some light injuries, the way he fell with his bicycle was hilarious. The man then looks back towards the camera's direction in search of the boy's parents. Before the video ends, the child could be heard crying from the pain. Netizens' reactions This video garnered mixed reactions from netizens, some of whom feel that the man could have used a better method to stop the child from getting hurt. While it has not been confirmed yet if the man is the child's father, his fast reaction is something to applaud. Maybe he plays football a lot? Honestly, I would have done the same thing to stop the kid from further harm. The injuries that he received from falling off his bicycle was just collateral damage. At least he didn't collide into a tree or gone off the path. I agree! While this video has been going viral for both the right and wrong reasons, it is always important to stop and help someone in need. Yesterday I witnessed a rather disturbing series of incidents. #1 - A boy of about 3-4 years old ran out of the restaurant his parents were dining in. The father gave chase and yelled loudly for the boy to get back. When the boy refused, the father grabbed him and carried him back to the restaurant. #2 - The boy kept crying in the restaurant. The dad carried him out of the restaurant and repeatedly slapped his face until the cheek was bright red. #3 - At the lift lobby, the boy who was still crying gestured that he wanted the father to carry him. The father picked up the boy and threw him onto a couch instead. Admittedly, I have no idea what is the head and tail of this story. However, I felt very disturbed watching it. In my mind these actions are actually child abuse, agree?

Ever since the Circuit Breaker measures have kicked in, more people have started working out in the parks as that is one of the few things left that you can do that is not indoors. Naturally, jogging and cycling in parks is one of the more popular outdoor activities but while we are engaged in such activities, it is best to keep a lookout for your family members. As seen on Singapore Roads safety/Roads safety.SG facebook page, the camera car was traveling along Yishun Ave 8 on 15th of May 2020 when the driver saw a child straying onto the road with his kick scooter. According to the Facebook post, the child's parents were not idenitified in the video(might have been the man on the right with a white top). Thankfully for the boy, a passing cyclist managed to the pull the child to safety. Meanwhile the camera car driver claimed to have swerved into the middle lane while a fast-moving lorry was coming up from behind. Viewers can spot the lorry zooming past the cyclist and the kid in the video. Naturally, netizens were fast to flame the parents for not caring for the kid. The lorry that zoomed past did not escape the flames too.

A woman and her son were found dead near Bukit Timah Nature Reserve on Thursday (Nov 14) morning. According to Lianhe Zaobao, the body of the 41-year-old Japanese woman was found near a car, while the body of her five-year-old child was found inside the vehicle. Paramedics pronounced both individuals dead at the scene. The incident took place along Lorong Sesuai, which is believed to be a restricted area. French teacher from MOE Language Centre arrested in Bangkok for sex with minors SINGAPORE - A Frenchman whom the Ministry of Education (MOE) has confirmed teaches at its Language Centre in Singapore has been arrested in Bangkok for allegedly having sex with children. French-language teacher Jean-Christophe Quenot, 51, was arrested by police in a hotel room in the Thai capital on Monday (Feb 4), according to reports in the Thai media. A check of the MOE Language Centre's website on Thursday showed Quenot listed as a staff member in the French department, but his name was removed later in the day. Metropolitan Police deputy divisional commander Colonel Nakarin Sukhonthawit on Wednesday was also quoted as saying at a press conference in Bangkok that Quenot told the police he had taught French in Singapore. In response to queries from ST, MOE said yesterday: "Jean-Christophe Quenot is a teacher in the French department at MOE Language Centre. We are doing internal checks, and note that this matter is being investigated by the Thai authorities. "MOE takes a serious view of misconduct by our staff and will not hesitate to take disciplinary action against those who do not adhere to our standards of conduct and discipline. In serious cases, their service may be terminated." From birth until as heavy as possible (e.g. 18kg) 3. ISOfix (not LATCH) Based on the above, I found only 1 child seat that fits the criteria (none of the child seats sold in SG fits the criteria): DuoLogic 2 (Graco), also known as KISS 2 (Klippan). I was picking up my kid from a renowned child care centre whom my kid just enrolled in. Upon entering the place I saw a care giver cum teacher reprimanding a young boy of 3 years + demanding an answer why he did such a thing..she kept repeating her questions in commanding tone..I was like thinking if I was one of the parents of the boy my heart would sink.

More drivers have been caught by the Traffic Police for not putting on seat belts or appropriate restraints for children travelling in vehicles. The number has doubled in the first half of this year, compared to the same period last year. This follows changes to seat belt rules in the beginning of the year. Since January, anyone below the height of 1.35 metres needs to be properly secured - either with seat belts, child restraints or booster seat cushions - when travelling in a car. Previously, the seat belt rule applies to children aged eight and below. Police say in the first half of the year, 490 drivers were caught for failing to belt up their young passengers, compared to 220 in the same period last year. Parents say they find it challenging to belt up their children. "You need to offer some incentives, sweets and all sorts of funny things, all the distractions. It actually has its practical issues." "The kids find it uncomfortable but we try to force it onto them. Otherwise, we just don't move off because it is important for them, for their safety." "Of course as a parent, we just need to tell them that this is for their safety. If I'm struggling, if they refuse to put the seat belt on, I just use force to buckle them up. After that, they just cry a little, then it's ok." One psychologist says it's understandable that kids do not like to be restrained, but parents need to think safety first and not give in to their children. Dr Qu Li, Assistant Professor, Division of Psychology, Nanyang Technological University, said: "Parents need to know more about how to deal with the situation and more about safety issues. For example, in Singapore, once in a while, we will see parents putting young children at the front passenger seat, which is not safe at all. Some parents may think this seat is safe, there is an air bag to protect the children. For younger children who are so short, when the air bags blow open, it will completely cover their face. They can't breath. They will die." She said adults need to get creative when teaching kids the importance of belting up. Dr Qu said: "If we just say, bring a textbook, this is rule number 1, number 2, number 3, children of course won't follow it. But if we say, "let's play a game, you're the driver, I'm the passenger, and what we will do." Children can learn very fast. Also I think what they learn during the pre-school years, they will remember. That will also help when they grow up and become teenagers." Franklie Tan Guang Wei abused the boy over five months, from November 2014 until March 2015, when the semi-conscious baby was rushed to hospital after Tan pushed him off the bed. The boy had sustained a skull fracture and bleeding in the brain. Now three, he is still in hospital undergoing therapy, including speech therapy and physiotherapy. The toddler, now in foster care, and his mother cannot be named due to a gag order. MOTHER LIED TO HIDE ABUSE A District Court heard Tan got together with the boy’s mother, 25, in August 2014. A month later, the baby’s caregivers noticed “a marked change” in his behavior. He had become fearful of males and had nightmares, Assistant Public Prosecutor Dillon Kok said. Caregivers Pe Bee Lian, 51, and her daughter Cadence Gee Shi Ting, 26, also began to notice bruises on the boy’s body whenever he spent time with his mother and Tan. When confronted, his mother denied he had been abused and blamed “spirits” for the bruises. Soon after discovering she was pregnant by Tan, the mother took the boy to live with Tan and his mother in their Bukit Batok flat on Nov 7, 2014. The next day, Tan abused the child for the first time. Frustrated by the baby’s cries, he slapped him, leaving marks on his cheek and a bruise near his left ear. When the boy’s mother returned him to caregivers Mdm Pe and Ms Gee a few days later, she lied that the baby’s face was swollen because he had fallen off the bed. The women took the boy to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) on November 19. Though his injuries had healed by then, the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) were alerted to allegations that the baby might have been abused. BABY WAS THROWN ACROSS THE ROOM The baby was discharged on November 27 into the care of Mdm Pe, and his mother’s access to him was restricted – she was allowed weekly supervised visits at MSF. This was revoked in January 2015, when the baby was found with scratches on his thighs after his mother and Tan had spent time with him, APP Kok said. About a month later, the mother entered into a Voluntary Care Agreement (VCA) with Tan’s parents, giving them care of her child and supervised access for her and Tan. However, Tan’s father breached the VCA by leaving the baby alone with his mother and Tan on March 8, 2015. The same day, frustrated by the boy’s cries, Tan lifted the baby up roughly and threw him 2 metres across the room. A week later, when Tan’s parents claimed they could not fully care for the boy, the VCA was amended to allow his mother and Tan to bring himto their flat at night. However, Tan was not allowed unsupervised contact with the baby at all times. BABY WAS “FORCEFULLY PUSHED” OFF THE BED On Mar 25, Tan abused the boy again – the worst instance of abuse which would later land the baby in hospital. The boy’s mother woke up early that day to get ready for work, leaving Tan alone with the child. When the baby began to cry, Tan pounded him twice on his buttock, APP Kok told the court. An hour later, after he had been fed, the boy began to vomit. Despite this, his mother left for work and left Tan to look after the sick child. This was in breach of the new VCA, which expressly forbade Tan unsupervised contact with the baby. When the baby continued to vomit, Tan became frustrated and “forcefully pushed” him off the bed, APP Kok told the court. Tan said the boy “flew off the bed and landed face up about 2 metres away”. He picked the child up and took him to have a shower. Soon after, he realised the baby was “in a daze and appeared to be semi-conscious”. Tan called the boy’s mother, who returned home to find her child weak and pale. The couple rushed him to KKH. The baby was found to have suffered a skull fracture, and underwent emergency surgery to ease the swelling in his brain. Further examination revealed a host of other injuries, including wrist and collarbone fractures and bruises on the body, including on his eyelids. The baby had also suffered a superficial burn on his back. In court on Friday, Tan admitted he had not checked the temperature of the baby’s bathwater when he gave him a shower on March 25. MOTHER ACCUSED OF ALLOWING ABUSE The boy’s mother has also been charged for child abuse, for allowing her child to stay with Tan, knowing her boyfriend abused her baby. Her trial is scheduled for later this month. A psychiatric report for Tan is pending. He is expected to be sentenced on Sep 19. For child abuse, Tan faces up to four years’ jail and/or a fine of up to S$4,000 per charge. For causing grievous hurt, he could be jailed for up to 10 years and fined or caned. - CNA/nc This evil man deserved a maximum punishment. The way he abused the baby is worst than animal. He should be punished severely , Slap him with max years of imprisonment and give him maximum strokes of rotan. The abuse took place in 2014, and the child still in hospital undergoing therapy, including speech therapy and physiotherapy. The mother is no better for allowing the continuous abuse to be inflicted on a defenceless child. She is the cause of the harm. She knew and lied to cover her lover wrong doing . She is not fit to be a mother.

Well, It took me a week to decide that I should share this with other parents here. It is no big deal, but I must say I am proud of him, and I want to remind other parents to listen and pay attention to your child. You will be surprise...LOL My boy came to on Wed a week ago in the evening after school. Our conversation was a simple one on the subject. Boy : " Daddy, I need a shelf to keep my rubix's cubes and kentama. This is what I need." ( and he went on to explain to me what he wanted) Me: " OK, can you draw it out and explain to me again?" Boy : " Ok, do you want a 2D or 3D drawing?" Me : " Give me both." ( But seriously, in my mind I was like WTF, how are you going to do a 3D drawing. He is only 11 years old, with no technical background, I don't even know if I can read and understand his drawing when it is done...LOL) He left to his room, came back to me in 15 min, and this is what he drew. Engineers please don't laugh at him, he is a P5, 11 years old boy. We then went into his room and had a discussion on where he wanted it install. Weekend came, father and son went on a material purchase trip after breakfast, grab everything we need, came back and started on the job. It was a simple 10 min job for me, but to see him eagerly involved running around taking tools and throwing away rubbish was fun. It was more than father and son bonding, it was more like "2 men working on a project". He was not only happy, he was proud of the work. A simple job, but it was his idea, his creative, and it became reality. With this, I am sure he will come to his dad with more projects and ideas, and I look forward to having such "2 men working on a project" kind of weekends...LOL Guys, so if your child come running to you with an idea to do up his/her room, or asking you to build something with him/her, don't brush them away, listen to them. It may sound simple and not worth the while for us to do it, but it is something great to the child, something he/she can be proud of. A way to build his/her confident, encourage creativity, stronger the bond, and a great way to spend that weekend away from hp and Pc...LOL You may be surprise what else their little brain can come out with. Could someone please tell me if normal cars e.g. altis or suv like forester or Suzuki vitara can fit two child seats behind plus an adult in middle? Total members in family 3 adults 1 child and planning to have one more.suddenly thought this child seats thing previously only budget was in my mind.
