  1. We start off the week with video that happened a week or so ago but only started to trend recently. Seen on SG Road Vigilante, is this particular Mazda 3 driver that became so triggered that he had to get out of his car with vulgarities spewing out of his mouth non stop. Like all road rage incidents though, it takes two to clap. Thankfully, the camera car driver was honest enough to show what he did that made the Mazda 3 driver so pissed. We could see him honking the Mazda as the road merge at the junction along Bedok North Road, before speeding past the Mazda which also tried to filter into the middle lane due to construction works ahead. Those two actions probably triggered the Mazda 3 driver bad and when he got to block the camera car, he made sure he was heard by the camera car. Probably not wanting to blow this up, the camera car drove off after the heated exchange of words but the Mazda 3, whose road tax had also expired, gave chase and did some not-very-nice gestures when he caught up... Let us know what are your thoughts on this case of road rage!
  2. Sometimes we wonder why cyclists are not licensed. If you aren't convinced, maybe watching a video below like the one below might make you re-consider. Shot on 8th of Nov 2020 with the camera car turning onto Dunearn Road, we can see that the driver stops abruptly before a caucasian cyclist comes into view with his middle finger raised for a split second. Obviously that wasn't very pleasant with the driver who submitted the video to ROAD.sg claiming that the cyclist was going across the road when the Red-man sign was lighted. What do you guys think? Should our traffic police start handing out more fines to cyclists who don't obey the rules of the road? The Netizens sure agree from what we can see...
  3. In our fast-paced and hectic society, it is easy to get triggered when unexpected things happen to you as we can see from this video that has been posted on SG Road Vigilante. In this video that was shot in Yishun a few days back, we can see a van which is the camera vehicle, coming to the rear of a Volkswagen Scirocco. While waiting for the gantry to be lifted, the car rolled back as one pair of its wheels were on a hump. The van driver gave the car a tap of its horn, triggering the Scirocco driver to come down and confront the van driver. For those who have no experience with dual-clutch gearboxes, some, if not most, have the tendency to roll back if the car is on a slope as the car behaves very much like a manual car in start-stop situations. Hence, the Scirocco driver wasn't trying to reverse on purpose. Was the horn necessary? Was it necessary to follow so close to the Scirocco seeing that he had trouble at the gantry? And was the van driver guilty of tailgating out of the carpark? Or was it simply just a case of an ill-mannered Volkswagen driver having a bad day? What do you guys reckon? Let us know in the comment box!

  6. I was crossing the junction at Middle Road/Queen Street towards Rochor on the pedestrian green light, and was already on the second lane when a white car came at full speed on Queen Street from Rochor and turned right without slowing or stopping into Middle Road, forcing me to jump out of the way for safety. At that point this happened there were still 20+ seconds counting down on the green pedestrian light. AFTER passing the junction, he finally reacted and slowed down when he realized that I had whipped out my handphone camera, and raised a hand out of his window. When I finally turned around and finished crossing, there were still 10+ seconds on the green pedestrian light. The car looked like a white Mitsubishi Lancer, (SGW1384_). It would be great if the cars stopped for the light on both sides of that junction had dash cams running, and could contact me so that I can submit the video together with my police report. Or even just post them to this thread.
  7. In my younger & ignorant days when news of such appears I would have said "ho sei liao hoot ah!!". (I have no doubt that the Israelis are capable of carrying out the threat and will do it alone if they cannot even get the tacit approval by the US, their main ally) Nowadays when there is any potential conflict especially in that region, what will likely happen is oil prices hitting stratospheric levels causing world economy to suffer, including our little red dot. Just hope cooler minds will prevail and they will do away all the sabre rattlings to thrash things out calmly. 10. I have been saying to make a video of driving experience I have in Germany to share for MCF for a while. So here we go. i actually took video of drving in Autobahn, but the stretch I drive is pretty boring (in terms of scenery), so I deleted it, to make space to make the video above. Hope you guys like it. If there is demand, I will make one on Autobahn (on a more scenic drive), maybe in the Alpine & some more scenic zones as well.

  13. Another one for the 7th month files. I wonder how this happened? Suicide? Spontaneous human combustion? Unfortunate smoking accident? A woman's charred corpse was found at the Ceylon Sports Club at Balestier Road yesterday morning. According to Lianhe Zaobao, an eyewitness last saw her on fire at 11.50am, when she fell onto the grass. The Singapore Civil Defence Force was alerted to the incident and rushed to the scene, but she had already died, reported the Chinese daily. After her body was removed, the silhouette of her scorched body remained on the grass. Six women and one man later appeared at the scene, and one of the women who was middle aged and wearing a yellow sari had to be helped to her feet by the others. The group later went to a nearby HDB estate and met a young man.

  16. Was on the way just now and saw a car stalled in the middle of a cross junction's yellow box. Location at cross junction near IMM, chevron and international business park. The drive just on his hazard light and started in the car with a girl, mingling with their handphone.... For goodness sake, get off the car and push it to the road side, rather then leaving it in the middle of the cross junction's yellow box and jam up the traffic!!!!!! STUPID!!
  17. Si gin na.... From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...eding_room.html Posted on 08 Nov 2012 Youths refuse to budge from breastfeeding room and even show woman the finger Two youths refused to budge when a STOMPer politely asked them to leave a breastfeeding room so that she could nurse her baby. One of them also started spewing vulgarities and showed her the finger. In a video sent to STOMP, the STOMPer had repeatedly asked the youths to leave the room, but to no avail. In one instance, one of the youths had replied, "Yes, we will leave the room," but remained seated and gave no intention of leaving. He also seemed to have claimed that he was "breastfeeding his baby". When the STOMPer told the youths that she would put the video up on the Internet, the same youth started hurling vulgarities and told her to go ahead. He also laughed and showed her his middle finger. In an email to STOMP early this morning (Nov 9), one of the youths had requested for the story to be removed because he is embarrassed.
  18. Any bros saw this incident or know the real story? Seems to be just some gesturing and argument between the two from the photo . 20. From: STOMP http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...sultan_and.html A nude man was spotted walking against the flow of traffic along Jalan Sultan before finally lying down on the road. Passers-by tried to aid him by diverting traffic and covering him with a white sheet.

STOMPers Francis, Shaik and Kai all sent in videos and comments about the man's behaviour in public.

Francis says passers-by tried to render assistance to the man. He wrote:

"A naked man entered a lift on the 15th floor of Keypoint Building at around 6.30pm, then walked on the main road against the flow of traffic outside the textile centre.

"All cars tried to avoid the naked man and eventually he laid himself down on the road.

"Kind souls were trying their best to divert heavy oncoming traffic away from him and at the same time advise the man to stand up and move away from the danger.

"The naked man refused to move and remained motionless lying on the floor until three police cars and one ambulance came to the rescue. "

Shaik was at the scene of the incident. He commented:

"I captured a video of a naked man running along Jalan Sultan.

"I work at the area and we were hanging out at the area.

"Suddenly my boss shouted 'naked man!', and we all turned to look at him.

"He was running against the flow of traffic and trying to stop motorists there.

"The police arrived after 10-15 minutes but they had difficulty getting him off the road.

"He was eventually taken away by an ambulance that arrived later. "

STOMPer Kai also sent in footage of the incident. He wrote:

"I would like to report a video about a naked man seen on Jalan Sultan today, June 28." What has driven these people goes crazy nowadays. It seems that life in Singapore is getting more and more stressful that make these people doing unthinkable acts in public.
  21. Title : Middle class wage stagnation could lead to social instability By : Date : 11 January 2007 1856 hrs (SST) URL : Middle class wage stagnation could lead to social instability - Channel NewsAsia SINGAPORE: Middle class wages have been stagnant in the past 5 years, according to economists, and this could lead to social instability. These concerns were shared by economists at the annual Institute of Policy Studies Singapore Perspectives conference, who also added that the government is taking steps to address the problem. Economists believe a US economic slowdown in business and consumer spending may cause problems for Singapore, but as Singapore is tops in the ASEAN resilience index, it should be able to weather external shocks, thanks to a diversified economy and strong Asian demand. They predict that growth going forward will be above 3 to 5 percent. The long-term growth limits for a mature economy was previously in the 3 to 5 percent range. However, economists are asking who this growth is for. The income of the bottom 30 percent of the population has fallen. What is more worrying is the fact that the majority of Singaporeans in the middle class has only seen about a one percent increase in their nominal income in the last 5 years. This is not not just a Singapore problem say economists who point out that stagnant wages is a global problem. The chief reason for this is globalisation, especially with India and China introducing a large pool of skilled and unskilled labour to compete with the labour forces of industrialised countries. Singapore is susceptible to this because of its open economy. Manpower Ministry data shows that 124,000 jobs were created last year and 45 percent of these jobs went to foreigners. "With the rate of immigration, even among unskilled and semi skilled labour at a rate twice of what we experienced in the 90s, at a rate fastest in the developed world, the question is - does this dampen our real wages as we grow? Does the strategy itself dampen real wages and depress real wages at the low and middle end of the spectrums? They are sacred cows but we should step back and think about them," said Yeoh Lam Keong, Vice President, Economic Society of Singapore. Another reason cited for middle class wage stagnation is the move by the government to cut CPF employer contribution rates for older workers by 4 percentage points over the last 2 years. "So if you were a worker in the 50-55 age group, you could have seen your wages fall as much as 10 percent over the last 3 or 4 years. Now with the economy improving, the government could bring that back, the increase is 1 or 2 percent. I'm in support of CPF tinkering but probably it happens far too often, but I think there's probably some justification to look back and think that the restructuring was a bit too aggressive on the CPF side and it has contributed somewhat to a very sandwiched middle class," said Chua Hak Bin, Director, Asia Pacific Econ & Market Analysis, Citigroup Global Markets Singapore. The government is looking at increasing CPF by 1 to 2 percentage points in 2007. Economists say workfare should become a more permanent pillar of the economy so as to cushion growing inequality. - CNA /dt
  22. Location: Along AMK Ave 1 towards Boundary Road, just before turn into Li Hwan Dr, very near Goldenhill Park Condo. Time sighted: Around 8.45am. Description: This golden Nissan Sunny was stationary in the middle of the road, doesn't seem to be involved in any accident, but the male driver and the female passenger all like unconscious/sleeping, heads tilt back and mouths open. Really odd. Anyone else saw? No pic, I think car plate is SGH6*74 or something.
