Can anyone help me to calculate if it is worth to pump in Jb. Some ppl say worth, some say not worth. Staying at Pasir ris - about 26km into JB via woodlands. Usually I can pump 35Litre, go in at half tank and pump to brim. The cost of pumping in JB: - 35 x 2.76Rm = 97RM - Msia Toll - 20rm + 3Rm - SG Toll - SGD 1 Total convert to SGD is about $42 for 35 litres of Ron 97. In Singapore, SPC Ron 95 $2.29 x 35 litres = $80 - 15% = $68. So still have a saving of $26. Am I correct?

So now, you have put your precious money into buying that dream car and the day that it arrives in Singapore has come! It lands in our port, someone picks it up and it gets transported to our showrooms for collection. Have you ever wondered about the fuel that goes into the car? Does it come empty? How much fuel goes into it? What kind of fuel goes into it? Well here is the story of two companies who choose a quaint little station in the West Coast to top up the fuel for their new arrivals. Both Honda and Toyota use a small Shell station down South, close to the Pasir Panjang MRT, and everyday, rain or shine, more than a dozen car transporters stop here to fill up the cars they carry. If you do the maths, that’s about a ten cars or so per transporter and more than 100 cars each day! It also gives you an idea of the sales volume of these bigger car companies. The station has a total of eight pumps, and the two outermost pair are equipped with extra long hoses, which allow the driver to reach the second deck of his transporter truck, without having to move the long truck. And yes it’s usually the driver who does the job, rather than the regular fuel attendants, but they do help out sometimes. It typically takes the driver around half an hour or more to refuel all the cars in one load. So you get a full tank? Sadly no, they will give you 50 bucks worth of the golden liquid, and it’s Ron 95 for these cars. Diesel cars obviously get a different oil, but it’s still the same amount. Given current petrol prices, you will get around a quarter tank, depending on how large the fuel tank is. Other car companies have tie ups with other stations, but the more premium marques may give you a full tank if you get their more expensive cars, but most car dealers only give you around a quarter tank. Enough for you to run about for a while, but with fuel prices so high, I guess unless you are a top valued customer, a quarter tank will have to do. Cars requiring a higher Ron do get a different grade of fuel, but whether that makes a difference is left to another story to answer…. Who says Toyotas aren't selling well?

Hi, Usually when we change the timing belt, we will change the water pump since they involve the same labour cost. But what if the water pump is leaking when the car is almost 4 years old at 40k, do we change the timing belt because we are changing water pump? Or is my friend mech trying to earn more money?

When pumping the tire, the air from the pump does not seem to get into the tire. When I remove the pump from the tire valve, can hear a loud stream of air coming out from the pump. Need to go through about 3-4 times before I hear the ting ting sound that the tires are fully pumped. Why is there such difficulty.

just came back from pump (Cal***). although my windscreen is visibly dirty due to monday's rain, the uncle and his fellow attendant rather stand and talk to each other. i think for the past few years, i dun rem such a service anymore. how i miss those days when pump prices were $1.00 only and all the uncles will not hesitate to clean windscreen, ask if wan check water la... does any bro here still enjoy such service? which brand and where? im just curious to see if this is altogether dead...thanks. -

I went to a WS to ask to change the rear wheel bearing. While they were at it, I was advised to change the brake pump too. Not knowing any better, I said okay and paid $120 for it. Is it necessary to change the brake pump once every 3 years? The pple at the WS said that it gets worn out every 3 years or so. Even if it's necessary, what's the market rate? I hope it's not like $50 and I paid $120. Thanks in advance.

Hi, got a 9 year old impreza wrx windshield pump not working, anyone diy before and is it easy to get parts ? I dont think it will be a difficult job, so intend to diy. Used to buy honda part from fing tat and merce parts from thye soon but not sure if they carry subaru's parts. Thanks in advanced.

What happen if I accidentally pump about 9L of diesel into my tank but after that I pump about 42L of petrol to dilute it? I got distracted and luckily the pump attendant came and stop the pumping immediately if not I think my whole car will be full diesel.. Sighzzz... Hope nothing happen.. :(

Difficulty Level : 3/5 Car: Hyundai Avante Suspected previous owner never change the fuel filter, decided to get it replace DIY style. Replacement span over 2 days. A lot of figuring what going on. Reason why 2 days is because the bloody o-ring is giving me a lot of issue. First buying fuel filter from stocklist doesn't come with o-rings. Second, i thought i got all the o-ring taken but the car won't start and found out there is one o-ring hidden at the pump outlet. 2nd day morning, the fuel pump system wasn't holding pressure so end up having delay start of 2 -6 sec before the engine cut in. End up is o-ring issue again. You have to manually force the fuel pump outlet into the fuel filter with the special notches at the fuel pump outlet. Overall is a great deal of learning experience. I had to open up and dismantle the darn thing 5 times to do troubleshooting. Actually its a easy job once you get the hang of it

as with all hydralic pumps, there is a certain threshold before the pump is no longer good or efficient. i wonder, with the clutch hydralic pumps that are attached to the pedal, there is a primary clutch pump and a secondary clutch pump. How may pumps (as in how many time you depress the clutch pedal) is the pump good for before it is time to replace? Anyone ever measured? or is the info found on any specs that we can read from?

Seeking advice regarding Hyundai Accent 2005 model 1.5m can pump Ron 92 fuel? I've been driving my Accent for 1 month and noticed when I pump Ron 92 the engine warning light come up within 2 days. Thought can save money like my previous Kia Rio run on Ron 92 no problem. Car came without manual and I have no idea whether the car can use lower grade petrol. Accent owners please advice can we take Ron 92?
