  2. I was just thinking, if LTA make it compulsory for every vehicle to install a camera for their car, and when any accident happens, it is mandatory to submit the video plus account within 24 hours, wont it solve the problems of erroneous claims? the videos from both drivers will give a very accurate depiction of what actually happened from both positions, and we wont even need witness. Confirm objective. If they can make every car install 3rd brake lights (cant rem when), and also the IU, maybe the cam will be a good move?
  3. As above, https://www.facebook.com/K.Y.C.TyreGarage/ Is it good? For 4 tyres is about $270 16" wheels
  4. Recently there is a case of 2007 Honda Stream being stolen in JB Tesco Tabrau carpark inside the building. This made me worry on the security of JB shopping centre building management and made me too scare to drive to JB. Is there any good ways to prevent from theft of car? Is our current keyless entry with smart key smart enough to deter the car thief? Should we park with head in or head out? Is there any good security equipment we should install to our car to prevent such incident happening?
  5. Need some help here. I have a water dispenser at home that sometimes short circuit and cause my entire house to power trip as the circuit breaker will "jump". Is there a power socket that has a built in circuit-breaker that I can buy? So that I can connect my water dispenser to this power socket, and that this socket will cut off the power to my dispenser whenever short circuit without my house circuit breaker "jumping"? Problem with my house circuit breaker "jumping" is that whole house no electricity, and that if I'm not at home, all food in my fridge will rot. Please help. Thanks.
  6. Hi, looking for a service (some top coat?) on car paint works to try to prevent Scratches, Discoloration of Paint from hot sun on a daily basis (exposed carpark). I have been looking at those 2nd hand cars thats being groomed by car dealers but from far, looks shiny n bling but upon close inspection, can see lots of swirl marks on the material. I think the basic coat of the car paint has already been damaged because of this polishing or whatever u called. So i'm looking for a service that dont create this problem. In the long run, hope that the extra $ fork out on the protection of paint = less time spend taking care of the car n if need to sell off later, hopefully can command higher price because of extra care taken to protect the paint Any recommendation? Thank you

  8. Squeezing breasts can stop cancer Squeezing breasts could prevent cancer, best study ever says 21 hrs ago Getting to second base, the holy grail for hormonal boys, is now science: New research has shown that squeezing breasts could prevent malignant breast cells from causing cancer. This doesn’t give pervy dudes license to grope you on the subway, ladies, but it does mean boob-grabbing should be a regular part of your self-care routine (yes, absolutely try it DIY-style). Experiments found that physical pressure led cells back to normal growth patterns, and that even after compression was no longer applied, the malignant cells stopped growing. Spread the word, boob-lovers of the world. [source]
  9. Just thinking about this issue which is becoming or have become a common source of unhappiness to many "new" 2nd hand car owners. The main reason i see why dealers and/or even some savvy owners want to tweak their odometer reading is so that potential customers will think the car they are keen to buy is newer or still new despite it's age, hence need not be worried or have to fork out a hefty maintenance sum so soon or at all. Personally, i think the following may deter, but probably unable to totally eradicate this problem/bane unless more enforcement methods used - 1. Dun buy a ride unless u have verifiable evidence of actual mileage. Eg. Service records from AD or workshop where ride was serviced. 2. If suspect that mileage is tampered or not so sure, ask either for better discount from selling price or to be inspected at own mechanic. Sometimes, high mileage does not necessarily mean problematic if the previous owner has taken time and $ to replace wear and tear parts. 3. In car sale agreement, insist that car dealer gives a warranty that should the mileage be found to have been tampered within 3 months from date of collection, an amount of $xxxx be paid, whether the car dealer is aware or not aware about the tampering. Basically, these documentation/black and white will be the tooth that Case can use. As i see at this point, many of the complaints brought up to Case are made weak because there is no solid evidence to point or put the onus on the car dealers to acknowledge responsibility for odometer tampering. Whether the car dealer honours the agreement is subject to the severity of the complaint. I rather keep making it troublesome for these dishonest car dealers to open/close shop or have a possible bankruptcy charge over their heads to make them clean up. On enforcement, i was thinking along the line of lta making the manufacturer come up with tamper proof odometer or lta have a type of seal that prevents tampering. But this may translate to more fees or a fee which i know, open doors for plenty of kpkb too. This thread for constructive discussion/further suggestions and no need to bring in politics or grandma or grandpa also (kpkb)..... If this topic is a repeat of other threads, my apology Mods, please delete. Safe ride Cheers

  11. my paper Friday, Dec 23, 2011 A Singapore civil servant appeared in court yesterday on 455 charges of cheating the Government of a total of more than $600,000, the authorities and a media report said. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said in a statement that clerical officer Liew Chee Meng was alleged to have forged documents to approve the purchase of gift vouchers for his personal benefit between 2007 and early this year. Subsequent investigations led to the seizure of almost $475,000 worth of goods from the accused, the MHA said. "A civilian clerical officer from the Ministry of Home Affairs...was charged in court today with forgery, cheating, criminal breach of trust and conversion of proceeds of crime," it said. "The offences relate to acts allegedly committed in the course of his employment with the ministry. The total amount involved is $617,087." The MHA said Liew's actions were uncovered in January after an internal audit, following a corruption case involving a senior civil servant with a penchant for Italian supercars. In that case, Koh Seah Wee, formerly a deputy director of information technology at the Singapore Land Authority, was sentenced last month to 22 years in jail for cheating the Government of more than $12 million. 12. The majority of road accidents on our expressways / main roads are due to tailgating when the front car slows down but the one behind cant stop in time. Even without any injury, what follows is usually a big traffic jam while the drivers involved inspect / discuss / argue / wait for rescue etc right on the spot. This ends up wasting a lot time of other road users. To prevent this, maybe LTA should make every car install a distance sensor (not a very hi-tech / expensive item) and link it to a warning device, or better still a speed-limiter so that if the driver tailgate for say more than 3 seconds, he will be either warned or his car's speed will be cut to suit the distance he maintains eg 10kmh or car distance of only 2-car-lengths etc etc. TP will conduct random and on the spot tests anywhere and if tempering of the device is found, the drivers will be fined heavily. And as a further preventive measure, the guilty driver involved in road accident during peak hours will be charged a $2k (or more) blanket fine for causing traffic jam. We may say driver safety education is better than fines, but after so many years of police warnings and educations (one way or another), there's still no major improvement, in fact it's getting worse, it's time to introduce serious penalty like this to wake up these reckless drivers. Any better idea?
  13. First, I am not a OPC owner. But this guy is talking about how to prevent accident and is inferring weekend cars are caused of it. No. 1 - WEC. I doubt there are any WEC on the road. Most will have been changed to OPC. If he gets his facts right and say OPC, then No 2. How does he know they are on the road when they should not be? whether use e-license or paper how he knows? http://www.straitstimes.com/STForum/Online...ory_713210.html

  18. what is MDA doing? it should put a stop to this ever escalating price increase of pay TV, especially for the sports channel. instead, it has taken a back seat and counsumers have to "suffer". as for the world cup, SH and ST will compete to outbid each other again. imagine paying $100 to watch all the WC matches......
  19. First of all, i have nothing against cats. Want to know what do people who have stray cats in their neighborhood prevent them from using your car as Dunlop. I've tried lifting the wipers after I park, obstacle for them to climb up frm bonnet. My car is hatchback, so difficult for them to mount the roof from the rear. This does not work though.

  21. Hi read this article from ST, What's the point of motor insurance? I WAS taken aback when my motor insurance premium shot up from $695 last year to $4,098.13. I called my insurance agent and insurance company. I was told a third-party claim of $21,400 against me was pending and because of this, I had to pay a hefty premium. I find this hard to understand. Why would one buy motor insurance if such was the case? I paid only $100 to repair my car after the accident. The other party initially agreed to settle the matter, but changed her mind after she visited her workshop. Subsequently, I received a claim for slightly more than $21,000 officially. How do I seek help and protection? Eddie Low Accident do happens, so what is the role of motor Insurance if they do not protect their customers?

  23. So now the bank is pushing the liability onto customers? Need to pay $75 to insure against ID fraud/theft? Whould you pay? http://business.asiaone.com/Business/Story...0821-83460.html New service prevents ID theft Thu, Aug 21, 2008 by Kenny Chee A NEW service to protect bank customers from identity theft and the fraud that comes with it has been launched in Singapore. Card Protection Plan (CPP), a UK-based consumer solutions provider, is collaborating with Citibank Singapore and Credit Bureau (Singapore) (CBS) to offer the identity-protection service to Citi customers at a fee of $75 a year, payable to the bank. It allows customers to detect unauthorised credit transactions quickly. Called ID Protect, the service sends out e-mail alerts to a customer when a credit transaction application, such as for loans or credit cards, is made in his name. If the transaction is fraudulent, the customer can contact CBS and his bank to prevent the application from going through. Additionally, subscribers of ID Protect who have lost their identification documents, such as identity cards, would have a fraud warning placed in their credit report by CBS. This alerts the bank to look out for potentially fraudulent credit applications made in the customer's name. And, in the event of identity fraud or unauthorised credit transactions, ID Protect will help its subscribers by contacting the bank and the Credit Bureau to correct any bad credit records resulting from the transactions. Customers would also be guided on follow-up measures, such as filing a police report. Although fraudulent credit transactions in Singapore are still uncommon, CBS recognised that such cases could be on the rise. Managing director of CPP Asia Pacific, Mr Howard Davidson, pointed out that identity thieves are becoming more sophisticated in stealing personal information through elaborate con jobs over the phone or the Internet. According to a recent security research by Unisys, 83 per cent of Singaporeans are concerned about identity theft, said Mr Radha Suvarna, director of Citibank's portfolio management and customer engagement. He added that globally, the proliferation of credit products and on-line payment services have made customers, including Singaporeans, more susceptible to identity theft.
