  3. Hi Brothers and Sisters, Need your advice. Just met an accident recently. The other driver took photo of my driving license. However, the other driver only gave me his membership card for photo taking. His membership has his photo but his NRIC number is incomplete, eg: S78xxxx55E. So far, the info I had collected from him is his membership card photo and phone number. I had make a report at one of my insurer's workshop. 1. May I know whether we should provide the real driving license for other party to take photo at the accident site? If not, a membership card also ok? 2. What is the info that we should collected from other party at the accident site?

  5. https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=10152024611502631&id=256318402630 Here's the Real truth. Pls help in getting the truth out there. Dear TRS, This is daniel ong. CEO and founder of twelve cupcakes . I'm in hkg now, but I do see a need to revert . I think the real caption to this should be..." Is TRS being fair? " . You write us a message at 9am in the morning , and say you will publish this at night if we don't revert. We see that you go against your word and publish it at 10am... Without finding out the facts. You do so without finding out the REAL truth, and also not finding out whether your info is right or wrong. It's pretty obvious from your lack of research that you don't care about right or wrong, you just care about sensationalizing a story. But I guess as people who run such a website , you don't really care about credibility to what you wrote as long as you have readership. All your facts and figures are wrong btw, And I will be granting other more credible sites interviews and insights to the real truth. Would love to speak to reporters who bother to find out both sides of any story. The truth will prevail. And I'm not worried. Lets just say, after the truth is known, your credibility will be at stake here, and the embarrassment of your baseless and unresearched article will be the main focus. I'm appalled at how unprofessional you guys are. But I keep forgetting you are not a news agency. You don't need ethics. You are just some guys behind computer screens running a website. To clear the air, For the record, our foreign workers earn more than what you claim . They don't work 12 hours a day like what you said. They arn't disgruntled like what you described. They are paid OT for the extra hours they work as stipulated in written contracts with them, unlike what you so baselessly state. Our foreign work force accounts for less than 10% of our workforce. They work for 11 hours a day. Of that there's 1.5 hours of break, and of the 9.5 hours of work they do everyday, we pay the OT past the 44 hour mark in accordance to MOM guidelines. Infact, you probably didn't know that their work in a kitchen is usually done in half a day, leaving a lot of time for downtime. Our foreign workforce want to work more, and earn more in the time that they are here. Back in their homelands, they would earn far worse wages with longer work hours. Here's a screamer for you, I'd like to state the fact that twelve cupcakes is one of the best places to work in Singapore! Higher starting salaries than most companies, great promotion prospects ... And.... We are one of few FnB companies that have such great perks. - 8 hour work days -paid lunch time (mon to Thursday) -anything more is OT pay(X1.5) -5.5 days unlike some companies who do 6 days. -$150 incentive EVERY month for EVERY employee for staying healthy and being on time. -year end bonuses -great work environment where you are encouraged to have fun, tell jokes and laugh. -all HR benefits in accordance to MOM guidelines. Why don't you write about that? Oh wait, that's not sensational enough. Ahhhh...And that's the truth. I'm writing now btw not because I think I need to answer your baseless allegations... But because people are entitled to the truth and the REAL story, unlike the content on your website. I also won't be bothering with going to the lawyers as well because I'm nice like that. And I really believe in karma. Anyways, have a Nice life anyways and lift what you'd like from this email to "suit " your article. We have done nothing wrong, we are steadfast, we love our staff to bits... And judging from how many staff have written to me to express their solidarity... I think twelve cupcakes has done a fantastic job. "Happy food by happy people for happy people" ...and I intend to stay true to it. May you find joy in what you do, and thank you so much for patronizing twelve cupcakes! Daniel ong CEO Twelve cupcakes pte ltd
  6. KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysia’s first and only astronaut to date, Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor announced yesterday (Jan 27) his venture into e-commerce with the Aladdin Group of Companies, which he believes can be a halal rival to Internet business giants Amazon and Alibaba. Dr Sheikh Muszaphar is the co-founder for Aladdin, which will be based in 30 countries, with the headquarters in Kuala Lumpur. It would select merchants which are either halal certified by the Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (Jakim) or those who comply with the Shariah guidelines to market on its site. Launched by former Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi yesterday, Aladdin could end up costing closer to US$100 million (S$143 million) over the next three years for all its operations and marketing in 30 countries. The headquarters and the domestic site, which starts operations today, had cost US$5 million. “What we aim to achieve is to compete with the likes of Amazon and Alibaba, and maybe even be bigger than them one day. Aladdin represents an opportunity for young entrepreneurs to gain halal certification and immediately gain access to 30 markets globally,” Dr Sheikh Muszaphar said during the launch at Aladdin’s headquarters here. He also said that the global demand for halal products was growing and that Muslim consumers would now have an avenue where they can “feel safe and assured” while purchasing products. “But, we would also like it to appeal to non-Muslims. Because halal is not about religion alone, it is also about ethics and hygiene,” he said further. The website, Aladdin Street, brands itself as the “world’s first exclusive premium halal e-marketplace.” Among the major markets it would expand to over the next three years includes Indonesia, India, China, the Middle East, and parts of Europe. Azizi Meor Ngah, a well known corporate figure who is also on the board of the Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC), will serve as executive director for Aladdin’s operations. 12. By Chua Yini | SingaporeScene -Yahoo News. The Housing and Development Board's (HDB) rejection of a proposal by Toh Yi residents for an alternative site for studio apartments has left some residents upset. HDB plans to go ahead with initial plans of building a block of 130 units of studio apartments at Toh Yi Drive catered for the elderly, despite a petition and proposal for an alternative site submitted by a group of residents. "In the case of Toh Yi, HDB has looked into the various feedback and made adjustments to the proposals to address residents' concerns, wherever feasible," said HDB in a statement on Monday. About 230 Toh Yi residents signed a petition earlier this month to Holland-Bukit Timah MP Sim Ann, opposing the government's plan to build the apartments because the identified site was the 19-block estate's only green space and it was situated on a slope that would make it difficult for elderly tenants to climb. Addressing the residents' proposal for an alternative site, HDB said that it has "carried out a detailed evaluation and assessed this [HDB's original plan to build at Toh Yi Drive] as the most suitable site available in the vicinity for studio apartments". According to HDB, the four alternative sites proposed were unsuitable as they were too small, were exposed to heavy traffic or impinged on car parking demands. Others have already been earmarked for future developments. In addition, HDB will include common facilities within the site, such as a community garden, playground and fitness stations. It has also pledged to improve the accessibility of the area "with elderly residents in mind". However, the petition organiser Ricky Goh Chok Chai expressed his unhappiness with MP Sim Ann's handling of the matter. In an email cc-ed to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan and the three other Holland-Bukit Timah MPs Christopher De Souza, Liang Eng Hwa and Vivian Balakrishnan, the 58-year-old businessman wrote that the residents involved would "manage [their] own housekeeping from now on and probably have to look into forming our own 'management committee' to deal directly with HDB for the internal affair of the estate of Toh Yi". He revealed the presence of a "shadow committee" in place, called the Concerned Residents' Caring Community Committee (CRCCC), and commented that the other MPs of the GRC seemed "bochap" (unconcerned) about the matter. Speaking to Yahoo! Singapore, Sim said: "Most residents I have spoken to told me they do not object to having studio apartments in the estate. Many welcome the idea, in fact. After all, we will all grow old. The key question has always been about the site. A minority of residents have voiced objections because of the site." However, she added that HDB's verdict was a "reasonable outcome that addresses the overall interests of residents in [the] estate". "HDB has evaluated the very considerable amount of feedback we had submitted. It has explained its reasons for the choice of site. It has promised to incorporate community facilities into the studio apartment project and also help improve amenities elsewhere within the estate," said the MP. The petition and proposal submitted by Goh's group has also irked around 50 residents in Toh Yi, who have submitted another petition to have the units built elsewhere. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thinks this is expected, no other way out. Now other GRC MP kaki also got blamed.

  15. ST PA lifts restriction on invitees to events on PA-leased sites By Li Xueying The People's Association is lifting its restriction on who residents can - or cannot - invite to events that are held on PA-leased sites, so long as the activities are of a 'non-political' nature. What this means is that opposition MPs can now be invited to these activities. The lifting of the restriction, however, applies to only events organised by non-grassroots organisations. This latest move, announced in a joint statement by the Housing Board and PA on Tuesday night, comes in the wake of a furore over the use of public spaces in Aljunied GRC.

  20. Liberty State Park in Jersey City, New Jersey, has emerged as the potential site for a United States grand prix between 2012 and 2016. Local reports said talks for a race amid the backdrop of the New York skyline are underway, with a city spokeswoman confirming that "preliminary discussions" with F1 officials started three weeks ago. The story emerged after documents obtained (pdf) by opposition group Friends of Liberty State Park showed plans for a 3.6 mile track within the 1200 acre park providing "the least impact to city functions". "It is a marketing tool to bring people to Jersey City such as foot traffic and revenue to local businesses," the spokeswoman is quoted as saying by hudsonreporter.com. Mayor Jerramiah Healy issued a statement clarifying that Jersey City was approached by formula one. "Jersey City is one of several cities they (F1) are pursuing," said mayor Healy. "There have been a few, preliminary conversations and this is very much in the exploratory phase. "However, this may not be something that is in the best interest of Jersey City or Liberty State Park," he added. F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone's London office could not be reached for comment. Source: GMM

  23. Ever since the whole Toyota recall debacle exploded late in 2009, one of the company's biggest problems has been the way it has responded to the problems. Many have criticized Toyota for either ignoring the problems or pretending that there is nothing wrong, but the company is now seeking to address that appearance by setting up rapid response teams to deal with reported incidents of unintended acceleration. For example, when a pair of alleged "unintended acceleration" incidents happened in San Diego and Connecticut, Toyota jumped in, sending out investigators to join government officials in trying to find out what happened. The new Swift Market Analysis Response Team (SMART) will now be immediately dispatched to the site of any reported unintended acceleration incident. The teams will consist of product engineers, field technical specialists and specially trained dealer technicians. Whenever dealers or Toyota are notified of an incident, the SMART team will head out to the site to evaluate the vehicle and gather evidence. Engineers from Toyota's Japanese product development teams will also assist in the analysis. Hopefully, a more thorough investigation of every reported case will provide Toyota with a larger pool of data from which it can gain a better understanding of what may or may not be happening. Even if there is not actually a problem, Toyota needs to prove so conclusively, because if these kinds of incidents continue happening, they will only damage the company's reputation further.
